Faculty Training Institute (FTI) is pleased to announce its establishment as an RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) Centre.  FTI’s establishment as an RPL Centre allows it to review and confirm the prior formal or work-based learning of candidates, for the purpose of achieving a qualification in project management. The qualification that FTI will assess and issue is the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) registered qualification: National Certificate in Project Management (NQF level 5) (SAQA ID 58395) 120 credits.

FTI, an EOH Group Company, is a recognised training leader in the domains of business and systems analysis, project management, enterprise architecture and testing. The training company

met the stringent criteria of the Services Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) to become an RPL Centre for the National Certificate in Project Management. Services SETA is the statutory body tasked with quality assurance, education provisioning and assessment of education for services including those in the Project Management field.

FTI’s incentive to offer the RPL programme is the recognition that there are able people with valuable knowledge and experience in workplaces and communities, who may or may not have had the opportunity to engage in formal learning previously, who could benefit from the RPL process. ‘’Project management is a definite strategic skills requirement for the economy and acknowledging these people by way of a formal RPL process  will contribute to the knowledge pool and the building of intellectual capital of South Africa,” says Steve Erlank, CEO of FTI.

Recognition of Prior Learning is a process whereby, through assessment of candidates’ knowledge and skills, credit is given to learning which has previously been acquired. The term ‘Prior learning’ is extended beyond formal education and training interventions, and also considers work-place experience and general life experiences.
RPL candidates undergo a series of assessments specifically designed to assist them to demonstrate their competence by compiling a comprehensive Portfolio of Evidence (PoE). Once their PoE has been assessed and they have been found competent against the qualification’s assessment criteria, candidates graduate with the National Certificate in Project Management.
